Governor Peter Munya on Monday commended the United States of America President Barack Obama for his visit to Kenya and attendance of Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2015 in the company of American entrepreneurs. The 6th annual summit held at Gigiri over the weekend provided a rare opportunity for youthful Kenyan entrepreneurs to network and exchange ideas with their global counterparts.
Munya, who is also the chairman Council of Governors, said the governors are happy President Obama in his addresses during his stay in Kenya emphasized the dream of their caucus. The CoG chair has been equivocal on his push for more resources to the counties as envisioned in the Kenyan Constitution that was adopted in 2010.
Speaking during the launch of Boresha Afya ya Jamii Yako Campaign in Meru town, Munya said there must be equal development and distribution of wealth across the country, from Turkana to Nyeri.
In his message ahead of the US President Visit, he had reiterated the Council of Governors support for Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES 2015) deliberations that he said would serve as a catalyst for opening entrepreneurship opportunities even in the remotest parts of this country.
He had also encouraged investors to visit the counties after the GES 2015 to explore immense and unique economic opportunities outside Nairobi.
